ICYMI: Defunding the Police will make Missouri less safe

St. Louis, Mo. – In an op-ed published in The Heartlander, Missouri Attorney General and candidate for U.S. Senate Eric Schmitt wrote how the Democrats’ agenda to Defund the Police is dangerous and how Trudy Busch Valentine support of this agenda will make Missouri less safe. 

“Liberal prosecutors and the continued march by far-left activists to Defund the Police contributes to a decline in morale among rank-and-file officers. I hear it all the time when I speak to rank-and-file officers. When Democratic politicians push an anti-cop agenda, fewer men and women will want to put on the uniform.

“I will always push back on these radical politicians. We cannot remain silent, and we cannot allow politicians who support this anti-cop agenda to gain an inch. My opponent in this race for Senate, Trudy Busch Valentine, has admitted to the St. Louis American that she is aligned with the Defund the Police crowd and their radical agenda. Any support to policies that Defund the Police is reckless, dangerous, and irresponsible,” said Eric Schmitt. 

As Missouri’s Attorney General, Eric Schmitt has worked to get violent criminals off our streets and justice for victims, while ensuring our police officers get the resources they need. Previously in this election, Attorney General Schmitt has received endorsements from the Missouri Fraternal Order of Police, the Missouri State Council of Fire Fighters, former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft, former Acting U.S. Attorney General Matt Whitaker, and dozens of sheriffs across the state.

The Missouri State Council of Fire Fighters announced their sole endorsement of Attorney General Eric Schmitt for United States Senate. Eric Schmitt has been steadfast in his support for the state’s firefighters and fire responders. 

“Firefighters and first responders every day run into dangerous situations in order to keep Missouri families safe. Missouri families can count on our firefighters to be there during the most difficult challenges. Firefighters truly are heroes. I am honored to have received the firefighters’ sole endorsement in this race,” said Eric Schmitt.

As Attorney General, Eric Schmitt has let the way in securing our streets and creating a safer Missouri for all. Attorney General Eric Schmitt championed common-sense policy solutions to support our first responders, including higher pay and relaxing residency requirements. Further, Schmitt worked with legislators to pass legislation to prosecute carjackings more effectively, secured 125 criminal convictions since 2019 with the special prosecution unit, launched the Safer Streets Initiative which has led to over 500 charges, and launched the Cold Case Unit which solved and prosecuted crimes from over 20 years ago.

St. Louis, MO — Today, with less than 30 days until the general election, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt’s campaign for U.S. Senate reported its strongest quarter yet, raising $2.5 million during the third quarter of 2022.
 
“Given the disaster that is the Biden administration, it is imperative that the Republicans take back the Senate so we can restore common sense to DC,” said Eric Schmitt. “The Limousine Liberal Trudy Busch Valentine thinks she can buy this seat and ignore the needs of working families. This wide support demonstrates Missourians are ready for a GOP-led Senate to lower prices, make America energy independent, and hold the Biden administration accountable.” 
 
In the most recent quarter, Eric Schmitt added nearly $1.5 million to his campaign, bringing his committee total to nearly $5 million since the launch of his campaign. The Missouri Schmitt Victory Committee also added $500,000 to its efforts, while another supporting campaign, Save Missouri Values, raised $508,000.
 
Despite being outspent nearly 3-to-1 in recent weeks, Eric Schmitt continues to maintain a dominating, double-digit lead over The Heiress Trudy Busch Valentine according to Real Clear Politics.

Republican nominee for U.S. Senate and Missouri’s Attorney General Eric Schmitt released his first broadcast TV ad of the 2022 general election. “Grill Dad” Eric Schmitt highlights how rising inflation in Joe Biden’s economy impacts the life of every Missourian. 
 
“Moms and dads are finding it more and more expensive to live in Joe Biden’s America,” said Eric Schmitt. “Joe Biden and his radical allies have caused this rising inflation. In the U.S. Senate, I’ll end wasteful spending and continue fighting to put money back in your pocket.”
 
Under the Biden-Schumer agenda, supported by Trudy Busch Valentine, inflation is at record levels. Groceries prices have seen their largest increase in 43 years.
